radii --version

The radii utility installs, removes, and queries hardware driver stacks for GPUs and AI accelerators using packages available through the system’s configured software repositories.

Rather than invoking vendor-provided installer scripts, radii relies entirely on repository-managed packages. This allows driver components to be installed, upgraded, and removed using the same mechanisms as the rest of the system, and ensures that driver updates follow normal package management workflows.

Drivers may be supplied by the base distribution or by additional repositories configured by the administrator. For example, a system may use a hardware vendor repository alongside the distribution’s own repositories, and radii will select drivers from whichever sources are enabled.

The simplest way to install drivers is:

radii install --auto-detect

In this mode, radii attempts to detect accelerator hardware present in the system and selects a driver stack automatically.

Hardware detection is performed on a best-effort basis. Because detection relies on available system information and known device mappings, it may fail to recognize some devices or may produce incomplete results in unusual configurations.

Drivers may also be selected explicitly by specifying a vendor identifier. The --force option allows installation to proceed even if the detected hardware does not appear to match the requested driver.

For installation, each driver stack is selected by a vendor identifier with an optional version qualifier:

Examples of driver specifications include ‘nvidia’, ‘nvidia:590.44.01’, and ‘amdgpu:latest’.

By default, radii invokes the system package manager in its interactive mode. The package manager may prompt for confirmation before performing transactions, such as installing or removing packages. The --batch option may be used to suppress interactive prompts and assume confirmation. This is intended for unattended environments such as automated provisioning, configuration management, or installation scripts.

Install one or more driver stacks. Specify drivers explicitly, or use --auto-detect for automatic selection.
Remove installed driver stacks. Omitting the version removes all installed versions for the specified vendor. This includes leftover kernel modules whose matching driver version is no longer installed, even if they were installed outside radii. Specifying a version limits kernel module removal to that driver version. Use --all to remove all managed driver stacks, including leftover kernel modules.
View or modify persistent configuration stored in /etc/radii/config.json. Without arguments, show the current configuration. With one argument, show the value of that key. With two arguments, set the key to the given value.

Supported keys:

partner-repos
Enable or disable partner repository for NVIDIA CUDA packages (true or false).
Display information about driver stacks. If no options are given, this shows drivers available from configured repositories. Required RHEL repositories are enabled only for the availability query; listing does not permanently change repository configuration. If required repository definitions are missing, configure registration and subscriptions, or use the global --skip-subscriptions option to query existing DNF sources. The --installed option may be used to display installed drivers instead, or both --available and --installed may be specified to show both available and installed drivers. The --compatible option restricts output to drivers compatible with detected hardware.

Option placement matters. Global options must appear before the command name. Command options appear after the command they apply to. Install options must precede explicit driver arguments.

Suppress routine informational output; print only warnings and errors.
Increase informational output.
Enable detailed diagnostic output intended for troubleshooting.
Display usage information and exit.
Use partner repository instead of standard RHEL repositories. This overrides the persistent partner-repos setting stored in /etc/radii/config.json. The partner repository provides packages directly from the hardware vendor through Red Hat's partner infrastructure. To enable persistently, use ‘radii config partner-repos true’.
Skip Red Hat Subscription Manager (RHSM) setup. Repositories must already be configured; packages will be installed from existing DNF sources. Intended for environments where repositories are pre-configured and subscription management is not required.
Print program version and exit.

Automatically select driver stacks for detected hardware. Driver stacks from different providers may conflict. If multiple providers are detected, specify drivers explicitly or use --force. Must not be combined with explicit driver arguments.
Run non-interactively, assuming confirmation where required.
Show the proposed transaction without changing packages or repository configuration. Required repositories are enabled temporarily for both availability queries and the simulated installation. DNF may refresh its metadata cache.
Proceed even if no compatible hardware was detected for the selected driver stack, or other validation checks report potential issues. With --auto-detect, allow installing drivers for all detected providers.
release, --kernel release
Install the NVIDIA driver for a specific kernel release, in version-release format, optionally followed by the system's architecture suffix and a variant suffix such as ‘+64k’. For example, ‘6.12.0-211.51.1.el10_2’ and ‘6.12.0-211.51.1.el10_2.aarch64+64k’ are accepted on aarch64. The selected driver version must have a matching kernel module package available in the configured repositories.

If omitted, DNF selects the latest available NVIDIA kernel module for the selected variant and installs its matching kernel as a dependency. The running kernel version is not used to pin the installation. AMD drivers do not support selecting a specific kernel version.

variant
Select the NVIDIA kernel variant independently of the kernel version. Use ‘default’, ‘4k’, or an empty value (--kernel-variant=) for the default variant, or ‘64k’ for the aarch64 kernel with 64 KiB pages.

If omitted, the running kernel variant is used, unless --kernel includes a variant suffix. An explicit variant must agree with any variant suffix in the kernel release. AMD ignores the variant and always installs its default kernel module.

Select for removal all installed driver stacks managed by radii. Must not be combined with explicit driver arguments.
Run non-interactively, assuming confirmation where required.
Show what would be changed without modifying the system.

Show driver stacks available from configured repositories. This is the default if no listing option is specified.
Show driver stacks currently installed on the system.
Only list compatible drivers.

The radii utility exits 0 on success, and >0 if an error occurs.
